While working on larger pieces, I kept this book, originally
titled “What Hap-pened Was This” on hand for quick missions into
fun, small-scale compositions. This book was a breakthrough for me be-cause sometimes I
really think that someone else made this one. I approached these
pages was as if they were individual (albeit displaced) frames in a
film sequence.
Compositions were informed by what occurred on the
pages preceding and following them. I focused on the placement of
characters in a landscape, exploring variations in form, imagery, and
space. |
