Intro To Street Art Workshop

Student Work 2013: Intro to Street Art

Street-Art-21_web Students honed their stenciling and spray-painting skills in this series of three 1.5 hour workshops. Instructor Gabriel Pons lead the class in developing their designs, cutting paper stencils, and perfecting their spray-painting.  Working on various media, including wood panels and vinyl records, students leave the course with a work of art and the knowledge to continue making on their own.  Below is a selection of photos from our 2013 series of "Intro to Street Art" classes:

2013 Summer Classes Announced

We are excited to announce our 2013 summer class schedule. Between three artists (Gabriel Pons, Scarlett Pons, and Leslie Brier) teaching in a wide variety of media, we offer so much more than a conventional art class. In a series of three 1-1.5 hour long sessions we expand outside of “traditional” artwork, focusing on working with a wide range of media from clay to spray paint to recycled everyday objects. Students can explore their creativity while creating a unique work of art and getting to know other students who share their interests. Each series of classes is priced at $100 or less and includes the materials students will need.  View our current class schedule Here.  Below is a sample of some classes offered:

Student Work: Intro to Street Art, July 2012

"Intro to Street Art" has been one of the most popular workshops this summer.  In three 1.5-hour sessions, students were given instruction on how to design and cut their own paper stencils which were then sprayed onto a 24"x24" masonite board.  Congratulations on a job well done!

Student Work: Intro to Street Art, June 2012

The week of June 18 kicked off the summer series of art workshops at PONSHOP.  Here are pics from the "Intro to Street Art" workshop. These students used their own hand-made paper stencils and then spray painted the image on to the canvas to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces.  Congratulations to all the students that participated! May 2012 Student Work: Adult Stencil and Intro to Street Art Workshops

May 2012: Paper, spray paint, and razor blades were the weapons of choice for both the "Intro to Street Art" and "Adult Stencil Class" this month.  Below are some progress pics as well as the finished works by our students. Throughout the course of three 1.5 hour sessions, students learned about the designing and cutting their own stencil designs as well as how to properly use spray paint to apply their designs on a surface.  PONSHOP offers classes ranging from painting and ceramics to jewelry design and photography.  For a current class schedule, click here.

PONSHOP Student Work: Intro to Street Art

Below are my "Intro to Street Art" student photos from January through October.  In this series of three 1.5 hour classes, I give students a background in the history of graffiti writing and the current global trend of street art.  Students are then charged to create their own section of a city wall using a variety of media including wheat paste collage, acrylic paint, spray paint, and stencils.  Congratulations to all of our "Intro to Street Art" students.  In fact, I've learned a lot working with all of you.

Intro to Street Art: September 2008

Nick followed up his "Skate to Create" workshop with the "Intro to Street Art" class. He was interested in creating his own style of letters, so we wasted no time getting down to business with sketching and painting...

Nick learned some "can control" while making his outlines and fills (above and below).
The finished product for his bedroom wall...
